Gli AGE sarebbero i prodotti della glicazione. E si pensa peggiorino la perfuzione del follicolo ostruendola. Oltre che rendere la pelle con un aspetto più invecchiato.


Adesso hanno scoperto un enzima per liberarsene. Ancora in vitro però.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in proteins, a hallmark of aging, are considered irreversible. Here, authors report the development of CMLase - an enzyme that specifically oxidizes Nε-carboxymethyl-lysine (CML) and restores the native lysine residues in vitro and in human tissue samples.

This is actually pretty interesting. AGEs seem to be one of those overlooked factors in skin aging, especially when it comes to collagen damage and tissue health. I was reading about glycation on https://longevity.io/orgs/24genetics/diagnostics/genetic-skin-and-hair-test, which discusses a skin and hair test that includes glycation-related genetic traits. I work with the site, just to be transparent.

The enzyme discovery sounds promising, but in vitro results are still a long way from proving it can clear AGEs safely in humans. I'd be really interested to see whether it eventually shows measurable improvements in skin health or hair follicles. Definitely something worth following.
